just listen / Softday / The Quiet Club & Nicolas Collins

Video of the live performance recorded at the Elysian as part of the just listen sound art festival, April 23.
SOFTDAY
Who man? Ravenous man! Leather man! Tearer man! Destroyer! A live improvised performance by Softday (aka Sean Taylor & Mikael Fernström)) in response to the text of Paul Burwell’s collaborative improvised poem ‘Adventures in the House of Memory,’ created in preparation for William Burroughs’ Final Academy at Ritzy, 1982. This poem was the last work Paul recorded, with Anne Bean and Chris Gladwin, two months before he died in 2007.

THE QUIET CLUB & NICOLAS COLLINS
TAPS (A Response) Reacting to Paul Burwell’s poem is like reacting to history repeating itself only slower. The pioneering work of Burwell is always in mind, from burning steel to human powered giant record players, from canal barge to wide open space, the beat goes on and on. The Quiet Club will humbly approach the work of a true master and respond.Pass the bottle please I like the sound of it. The Quiet Club will be joined by guest artist Nicolas Collins.

October Edition

Welcome to the National Sculpture Factory’s new productive [archive] platform. Designed as a web based Archive project it attempts to release the incredible wealth contained within the arts organisation since its inception in 1989.

Information unearthed here is for use as a general public resource while also becoming a new productive platform for the NSF into the future.

It has been developed, designed and displayed along the lines of an art project where the ranges of material - text, sound, video, images, artworks, etc are unpacked into their simple constituent parts categorised by their mediums, unedited, and unburdened by any chronology or other classificatory systems.

This archive/platform will have a one-year duration where at the beginning of each month new material will be selected, curated and added creating further depth of understanding across all facets of the NSF’s history and activities.

This is an open repository allowing one to rummage and discover material through one’s own subjective interests and desires.
